Hands on application of material into YOUR life

Your health and well-being is founded on the many small daily habits you have, whether you are aware of them or not.

I knew this as a health practitioner, but I didn’t really KNOW this until I was in a season of my life where I needed to rebuild.  Life as I was living it needed to change.  But try as I might, I could just not get anything to stick.  Coming out of an intense season of grief and what I affectionately call the “covid-comma” I was easily overwhelmed and scatter brained.  I wanted to and tried to do to much too fast and then my life would get off balance.

Good things grow over time!

How can this habit course help you?

1. Habits support your life, they don't radically change the way you live.
The truth is small and steady is radical when done consistently and over time.

2. Habits teach you about you.
Ever wonder why you don't change with a diet? Diets dictate. Habits teach you about you, so that you can
continue to live and engage with yourself and your health, no matter what comes your way. Once you learn
the basics (and practice), you will then be able to adapt your habits.

3. Habits enable your brain to conserve energy!
When you have habits for the smaller things in life, you have more brain power and energy to show up for the
bigger things in life. That's a win!

4. Cultivating habits can create more mental space for you to continue to do the hard work ...

in therapy
with your dietitian
in relationships
at work

AND CAN ALSO

create more time to enjoy things like...

rest
play
non-productivity
creativity

5. Learning the habit loop will empower you to make changes.
Reading about habits and applying what you are learning about habits are two very different things. For
example, you can read about how to drive a car, but until you actually drive the car, you will only ever have
partial knowledge. You need to get behind the wheel, put your foot on the gas petal, and go! Ideally, you will
have someone in the car with you who has experience driving, who is guiding you with the application of your
knowledge.

You can read about habits all day long, but until you try the framework on (by application) the information alone won't get you very far.

As someone who is on the habit journey, I get the complexities of developing and adjusting "micro" habits as well as the day in and day out lived experience of how empowering and life changing habit work is. Cultivating "micro" habits and creating systems has changed my life! And I want to share that with you!

This program creates a space to facilitate, hope, balance, and small change that can last ... no matter where you are on your journey!

Each class will have 4 main components:

Complementary Care

In your recovery you know that you are growing, but maybe you are having a hard time seeing it.

Are you working on your recovery and finding that you are getting frustrated with a sense of feeling stuck?  You know you are growing (and hope you are) but maybe you are having a hard time seeing it?  Need some fresh motivation to keep you going on the long term journey?
If so, this course may be for you.

Complementary care compliments the great care you are already participating in.

Consider this complementary care.  What does that mean?  That means it complements the great care you are already participating in.  It is a BOTH/AND approach to the recovery journey.

Working long term with a therapist and dietitian (or support team) on the road to recovery is both good and hard work.  I consider that to be like moving the big life boulders.  Cultivating habits is like learning how to move the little life pebbles by yourself.  It is a new set of skills and new mindsets that complement the beautiful rich recovery work that is already being done.

Cultivating small habits helps you create lateral changes in your life.  It also creates a snowball or cascading effect, meaning small things do add up over time.  There is something highly motivating when you realize that you can make a change.  If you are capable of making a change in one area of your life, you are capable of making change in other areas of life, even the areas you have felt most stuck in.

This course cultivates growth in self-efficacy, believing that you can change.  As you are provided with tools, space to discover/explore awareness, and invitations for mindset shifts,  you will also begin to build evidence that shows that you are capable of change.

Growing is better together.

Growing Habits for Health creates a space where small stuff can be focused on, connection with community heading in the same direction happens, and new habits and mindsets are formed.

This course is delivered through a Christian worldview.

One does not need to be a Christian to participate, however an openness to this perspective would be helpful for each attendant.

For those 18 years and older.

FAQ's

Doing hard things together is motivating and encouraging and helpful for accountability.  With habits it is very helpful to have a group of people to share ideas with.  You can learn from others and then personalize what you take away as you apply it to the habits you are wanting to build.

We highly encourage you to show up for class each week not only for your own growth, but also for the benefit of the cohort.  8 weeks goes by very fast!  Though if you miss a week, a recording of the class (not group breakout) will be sent to you.

In this course, you will learn a different perspective and a different approach to habits and will be coached as you start to grow bite sized health habits.  Small makes things sustainable.  This course is going to help you get in tune with yourself, give you space to try a new pace, and encourage you to grow rather than get it right.
