What is a Winter Wellbeing Community?
A group of people who want to journey together. Journeying is different than arriving. If you never start the journey, however, chances are you may never get to your destination. It is a collection of people headed in the same direction, but maybe not the same location.
When you journey in a group, you are stronger than when you journey alone, and you are invited to see things along the way which you may not have seen on your own. Each person has different experience with prior “journeying” and may have wisdom, encouragement, and support to offer. Having a journey guide is helpful. A guide is familiar with the terrain, has guided others along the path, and knows where to go and where not to go. A guide can also point out things along the way which may have been unknown to you.
It is a facilitated small group (4–8 participants) for those who need extra support around the holidays and first part of the New Year. For those who struggle with negative body image or disorder within their eating in anyway and who are open to exploring various Christian spiritual practices. We will be journeying together for 8 weeks, each week there will be a short teaching, a time for personal discovery, and a time of sharing. To get the most out of this community, interaction and participation are highly encouraged.
*Group will be closed to new attendees after Dec. 20th*
Why Join?
We all need help. It helps when we hear the words “me too.”
Eating, emotions, balance, wellbeing, and life can be challenging, especially around and during the holidays. This is normal. When you take time to slow down and have a space to talk about these challenges, shame can be eased, and new understanding and possibilities can arise.
We live in a fast paced, grief avoidant, and faking fine culture where we seek comfort in things that don’t really comfort us. Realizing this, and digging a little deeper, asking “why that is so for you” can be overwhelming to do alone.
Healing and growth rarely happen in isolation. Within the context of community we can find connection, be seen, share struggles and victories, and find hope and healing even amidst the darkest or more challenging seasons.
